Solutions

# A solution built to standardize the diagnostic ultrasound acquisition across care networks

Diagnostic ultrasound is the backbone of clinical decision making across the continuum of care. Our solution enables clinical and operational leaders to eliminate variability and improve clinical confidence while delivering more exam capacity and a better patient / caregiver experience within your operational footprint.

A clinical and operational challenge

## When the workforce is under pressure, the entire service line feels it.

Physical strain, staffing instability, training demands, and acquisition variation can affect quality, capacity, and patient access across the cardiac imaging program.

[See the workforce challenge →](https://lp.apricityrobotics.com/workforce?hsLang=en)

Solution highlights

#### Managing high volume, geographically dispersed ultrasound exam delivery is hard. Our solution provides the operational building blocks for managing your network's growth to the standards your patients and caregivers expect.

## Quality begins before the study reaches the reader

The final report depends on the images acquired, the views completed, and the sonographer's ability to adapt the exam to the clinical question. When acquisition varies across experience levels, shifts, or sites, the medical director inherits the consequences through repeat imaging, uncertain findings, delayed decisions, and difficult quality conversations.

A technology evaluation should therefore begin with the lab's acquisition standard. Define the required views, acceptable variation, escalation path, and measures of completeness before asking whether a new platform improves the process.

## Workforce sustainability belongs in clinical governance

Pain, turnover, vacancies, and uneven training can affect the consistency of a service long before they appear in a formal quality metric. Senior sonographers often carry the most complex studies, teach developing staff, and stabilize the lab during difficult days. Protecting that expertise supports the clinical program as well as the workforce.

Apricity is developing robotic assistance around the physical work of cardiac ultrasound. The clinical question is whether that support can fit the protocol, preserve sonographer control, and contribute to a more reliable acquisition environment.

## Lead with an evidence plan

A mature adoption process distinguishes design intent from demonstrated performance. Medical directors should ask which population was studied, how image quality was defined, who acquired and interpreted the studies, what comparison was used, how failures were handled, and whether results transfer to the local workflow.

Apricity should make those questions part of the partnership. Evidence, limitations, and intended use must remain visible at every stage of development.

Key considerations

## The medical director's evaluation lens

A platform decision should connect clinical quality, workforce reality, and institutional readiness.

The human problem

## The physical demands of scanning are an enterprise concern.

Cardiac ultrasound is a skilled, hands-on profession. Sonographers spend their days reaching, holding sustained positions, managing equipment, and adapting to patients with different clinical and mobility needs. Over time, that physical workload can affect comfort, attendance, retention, and career longevity.

1. Protect workforce continuity
2. Support consistent acquisition
3. Build practical capacity

![Sonographer working with robotic-assisted ultrasound](https://lp.apricityrobotics.com/hubfs/raw_assets/public/Apricity/Images/hero-home.jpg)

The sonographer remains central.

Technology should support expertise, control, and career longevity.

Explore each priority

## Solutions, in practical terms

Each section connects a familiar clinical or operational pressure to a more focused evaluation path.

1. 01

   ### Protect the people who make echo possible

The physical demands of sonography can shape attendance, job satisfaction, retention, and the length of a career. Apricity is developing robotic assistance to support the physical work of cardiac ultrasound while preserving the sonographer's control and expertise.

     - Bring ergonomic exposure into workforce planning
     - Protect experienced staff whose knowledge is difficult to replace
     - Design technology around the body as well as the clinical task

   [See the workforce pathway→](https://lp.apricityrobotics.com/solutions/workforce?hsLang=en)
2. 02

   ### Give every interpretation a stronger starting point

Diagnostic confidence depends on the images available to the reader. Apricity is exploring how robotic support and future intelligence can help make acquisition more repeatable, especially when fatigue, experience, or site variation affects the study.

     - Support protocol consistency
     - Reduce avoidable variation at the point of acquisition
     - Create clearer feedback and quality-improvement loops

   [See the image-quality pathway→](https://lp.apricityrobotics.com/solutions/image-quality?hsLang=en)
3. 03

   ### Find capacity inside the workforce you already have

Capacity is affected by more than open positions. Injury, overtime, training demands, complex exams, repeat studies, and uneven coverage all influence the number of patients an echo service line can reliably serve.

     - Protect productive time and experienced staff
     - Evaluate workflow constraints before adding volume
     - Use distributed expertise more deliberately over time

   [See the capacity pathway→](https://lp.apricityrobotics.com/solutions/capacity?hsLang=en)
4. 04

   ### Make proficiency a supported process

Developing sonographers need repetition, feedback, and access to experienced guidance. A technology-assisted environment may help programs structure that support while keeping competency and clinical judgment with qualified professionals.

     - Support deliberate practice around defined views
     - Extend expert guidance to more learners and locations
     - Track readiness through clear competency measures

   [See the training pathway→](https://lp.apricityrobotics.com/solutions/training?hsLang=en)
5. 05

   ### Operate one cardiac imaging standard across the network

Health systems often manage different staffing models, equipment, volumes, and experience levels across sites. Apricity's roadmap toward remote operations creates a future framework for common protocols, expert support, and quality oversight across that variation.

     - Establish a shared acquisition standard
     - Connect expert support to the sites that need it
     - Use comparable operating and quality measures across locations

Clinical perspective

## What clinical leaders are telling us

Apricity is developing its platform with input from the people responsible for acquisition, interpretation, workforce leadership, and health-system operations.

- “

  > Sonographers take three years in clinic to train and then leave. Variability in sonographer expertise drives all quality issues. Every July we have a new crew. The musculoskeletal burden is real, and our senior sonographers move to administrative roles due to pain.

  Dr. Wendy Tsang

Medical Director, Echocardiography, University Health Network
- “

  > On-axis imaging is critical to quality and downstream interpretation and diagnosis. We struggle to control quality across our satellite locations. Robotic standardization and remote quality assurance would be a game changer.

  Dr. Richard Hellman

  Director of Echocardiography
