Built for Sonographers. Engineered for Enterprise Health Systems

# The Future of Diagnostic Ultrasound

Apricity Robotics is building the acquisition and workflow automation layer for non-invasive ultrasound, addressing sonographer injury, workforce shortages, healthcare capacity constraints, and diagnostic exam variability

- Amplifying Sonographers. Advancing Care. Expanding Operations.

A clinical and operational challenge

## When the workforce is under pressure, the entire service line feels it.

Physical strain, staffing instability, training demands, and acquisition variation can affect quality, capacity, and patient access across the cardiac imaging program.

[See the workforce challenge →](https://lp.apricityrobotics.com/workforce?hsLang=en)

The Sonographer is our hero at Apricity

## We started with the essential workers who perform the exams.

Through the standard delivery of care, sonographers absorb years of physical strain which impact their ability to serve both patients and the field they love. As patient demand continues to rise, healthcare providers are losing their most experienced caregivers and the capacity to deliver critical diagnostic care.

We designed the platform around the sonographer first, then followed the problem through the rest of the service line, creating a path to greater productivity and flexibility across echocardiography operations.

## When sonographers are not protected and supported, downstream care delivery and ultimately patients suffer

  ### Clinical confidence varies

When skill, stamina, and confidence vary across your geographically distributed sonographer workforce, so does exam quality, consistency, and clinical confidence.
- ![hero-apricity-robotic-ultrasound-study](https://lp.apricityrobotics.com/hs-fs/hubfs/hero-apricity-robotic-ultrasound-study.jpg?width=1800&height=1012&name=hero-apricity-robotic-ultrasound-study.jpg)

  Managing the schedule

  ### Staffing to meet the daily demand

As patient demand increases and retaining talent is harder, managing a staffing plan that keeps every exam room operational is a daily challenge.

Across Hub & Spoke Clinical Operations

  ### No operational flexibility

Across geographically distributed care delivery networks, requiring an accredited sonographer everywhere an exam is physically delivered restricts operational flexibility and system-wide standardization.

In the exam room

## Collaborating to deliver a transformational user experience for both sonographer and patient

Our solution is designed as a vendor-agnostic "3rd arm" for any ultrasound cart, holding and manipulating the probe in tandem with the sonographer's clinical expertise, enabling focus on image and measurement quality and consistency across the exam protocol, while enhancing the patient / caregiver experience.

A coordinated response

## A coordinated response for the cardiac imaging service line

The same workforce constraint appears differently in the exam room, the reading room, the staffing plan, and the capital plan. Apricity is developing one technology platform with implications across all four.

The human problem

## The physical demands of scanning are an enterprise concern.

Cardiac ultrasound is a skilled, hands-on profession. Sonographers spend their days reaching, holding sustained positions, managing equipment, and adapting to patients with different clinical and mobility needs. Over time, that physical workload can affect comfort, attendance, retention, and career longevity.

1. Protect workforce continuity
2. Support consistent acquisition
3. Build practical capacity

![Sonographer working with robotic-assisted ultrasound](https://lp.apricityrobotics.com/hubfs/raw_assets/public/Apricity/Images/hero-home.jpg)

The sonographer remains central.

Technology should support expertise, control, and career longevity.

Clinical perspective

## What clinical leaders are telling us

Apricity is developing its platform with input from the people responsible for acquisition, interpretation, workforce leadership, and health-system operations.

- “

  > Sonographers take three years in clinic to train and then leave. Variability in sonographer expertise drives all quality issues. Every July we have a new crew. The musculoskeletal burden is real, and our senior sonographers move to administrative roles due to pain.

  Dr. Wendy Tsang

Medical Director, Echocardiography, University Health Network
- “

  > On-axis imaging is critical to quality and downstream interpretation and diagnosis. We struggle to control quality across our satellite locations. Robotic standardization and remote quality assurance would be a game changer.

  Dr. Richard Hellman

  Director of Echocardiography
